Residents’ Rights Month 2020 |
As October comes to a close we recognize the annual celebration of Residents’ Rights month was very different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate the opportunities ombudsmen had to safely work with residents, families, and facility staff to help promote awareness of rights.
Prior to Residents’ Rights month the KY LTC Ombudsman Program distributed nearly 35,000 Covid19 Guides for Residents so that every resident in the state would have an update on their rights and critical information during the pandemic. During October ombudsmen meet with resident and family councils virtually to provide rights education and participate in discussions encouraging residents to exercise their rights. Ombudsmen also provided virtual or outdoor socially distanced education to facility staff. Ombudsmen distributed 5,000 copies of Staying Connected Resident Rights Month Enrichment Activity booklet.
