The 2025 legislative session of the Kentucky General Assembly has passed its halfway mark and the last day of the session, March 28th’s Sine Die, is fast approaching. Our agency remains committed to advocating for policies that improve the quality of care and quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities. There have been over 800 bills filed in the House and nearly 300 in the Senate. Throughout the session, we have met with legislators of both parties and have offered our support for several important bills that prioritize resident well-being and enhance care standards. As of the date of this mailing, the agency supports the following:
Senate Bill 27, sponsored by Senator Brandon Storm, establishes the Kentucky Parkinson’s Disease Research Registry and Advisory Committee to facilitate research on the incidence and prevalence of Parkinson’s Disease in Kentucky.
Senate Bill 78, a companion bill to House Bill 282 and sponsored by Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong, exempts all diaper purchases from the sales and use tax.
Senate Bill 93, sponsored by Senator Karen Berg, provides and expands healthcare coverage requirements for hearing aids, hearing related services, and cochlear implants.
House Bill 58, sponsored by Representative Lisa Willner, permits a tenant to terminate a lease or rental agreement, in addition to other means of rent relief, if the tenant is seeking relocation due to a recent mental or physical health emergency.

House Bill 282, a companion bill to Senate Bill 78 and sponsored by Representative T.J, Roberts, exempts all diaper purchases from the sales and use tax.
