Bluegrass District Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
The Bluegrass District Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves more than 5,000 residents in over 80 long-term care facilities across 17 counties in Central Kentucky. We serve Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford Counties.
The Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency’s award-winning ombudsman program was started in 1981 by a small group of caring citizens concerned about the conditions in their local nursing homes. NHOA employs certified long-term care ombudsmen to advocate for quality care for residents living in long-term care facilities. Our ombudsmen are regularly at the bedside of long-term care residents, visiting and establishing trusting relationships; informing residents of their rights; and empowering residents to speak up about care concerns. NHOA’s clear, Kentucky-specific information about nursing home placement assures residents are correctly placed according to care needs, reduces confusion & stress, and helps individuals and families make educated decisions about long-term care.
NHOA works to:
- Protect the rights of residents
- Identify, investigate, and work to solve problems
- Provide regular, friendly visits to residents
- Provide assistance and education to individuals and families in our community
- Monitor government actions affecting residents
